eCandidus™ Desktop makes use of the portability of the Apple iPad™ to give you the ability to carry documents and view them at any time. This is done using the Dropbox web based service.
Setting up and Associate In order to send files to Dropbox, you need to setup one or more associates as Dropbox capable. This is done in each associates messaging settings:
Simply set the Dropbox Name and Password fields to the appropriate entries.
The Dropbox interface Once you have setup one or more associates as Dropbox capable, the Dropbox button will appear when you view a case:
Sending a file to an associate You can send the following items:
Merged items... To send a merged item, simply click on the Where used button to display the items:
Simply drag the document or form to the Dropbox button:
A list of all associates that can receive the file is shown, select the one and the file will be delivered to his/her dropbox account.
External... To send an external file, select the file from the menu and drag it to the Dropbox button.
Again, the list of associates is displayed. Select which one is to receive the file. Folders can be sent just as easily. Just drag the directory bucket to the Dropbox button. The entire contents of the directory and any sub-directories are sent to the associate.
Viewing the files Using the Dropbox iPad app, which is available free at the Apple App Store, your iPad will be kept synchronized with Dropbox.
This means that any file that eCandidus uploads, will be available after the next synch cycle:
Note that eCandidus will create a folder for each case that you upload from.
Getting files from Dropbox You can retrieve any file in the root folder for each case in Dropbox, by clicking on the Dropbox buton and selecting the associate. A list of all the files is shown:
To view the file, select it, and to copy the file from Dropbox, drag it to the External bucket or your Windows desktop.
Case information As the Dropbox/iPad connectivity only carries files, in order to carry case information you will need to create a merge document or form that populates with the information that you want to see. Once you have merged the document or form, you can drag it to the Dropbox button and have it available as part of the case documents. |
