Law Codes

Law Code fields allow for the keeping of a list of law codes.

 

Simple vs. Quick Search

The default search method is simple search, where you enter a set of keywords and all of the codes that contain the keywords are returned.

You can also use the Quick Search engine, which provides a more complex lookup method.

 

Setting up the Quick Search

You setup the Quick Search mode by entering a directory value in the System Settings QuickSearchDirectory entry in the External section.

This entry must point to a directory that is accessible by all stations.

 

Creating the California Codes support

To load (or periodically reload) the California Codes into eCandidus™, you use the Syncronize:CA Civil Codes tool:

Simply click on the Go button to initiate the loading:

 

Creating Law Code fields

To create a fields that accesses the law codes, use the LawCodes field type when creating the field. The field is created as you would any other User Extensions field.

 

Entering Law Codes

Law codes are entered as words separated by spaces or commas. For example:

When you double click on an empty field, you will get the search/view tool:

Enter the set of keywords or Quick Search string and click on the ? button to search the codes database.

You may limit the search to a specific code type by selecting the code type in the in selection box.

The codes that match the criteria will be shown, along with the weight score if the Quick Search method was used. You can display the text for each code by clicking on the code itself and you can add the code to the list of codes by clicking on the + button.

Once you have selected the code or codes, click on the Save button to copy the list to th field.

 

Viewing Law Codes

Once you have entered one or more codes, you can view the text of the codes by double clicking on the field. You will get the search/view tool.

Click on any of the codes to view the text.
