The External Search Bridge creates an index of all documents stored in External. The bridge can run as a system service in the same machine as the eCandidus Server. You install it like you would any other MS Windows programs.
Giving the Bridge access The External Search Bridge is an eCandidus remote service, which requires you to authorize its use within your system. When the bridge is installed, the setting screen displays by default:
Set the server address, which by default is the server that you installed the bridge on. This will set the RemoteID, which needs to be entered in the Tools:Settings:System Allowed Remote IDs list:
Creating a storage directory for the index You also need to create a shared directory to store the index. This is done by setting a value in the QuickSearchDirectory entry found in the External section of the System Settings:
Starting the indexing process Once you have done so, set the AllowToRun flag to True in the bridge settings and save the settings by clicking on the Go button. It mmay take a fair amount of time to create the index, depending on the number of documents in External.
Files and Directories not indexed There are occasions where certain files and/or directories should not be indexed. Just include an exclamation mark ! as part of the file and.or directory name.
Searching To use the Quick Search index, each associate needs to turn on the External Find option in his/her Associate settings. When this option is turned on, an extra button is displayed in the button bar:
When you click on the Quick Search button, a screen is displayed:
The input for this differs from the Find button, which searches by the name of the document. The Quick Search button searches the contents of each document using the Quick Search syntax. |
